How to Live a Life of Passion Event (2)

How to Live and Work with Clarity, Passion, and Take Wise Action starts Sunday, Sep 18-Oct16, for four (4) weeks.

Do you feel like something’s not going quite right, but you’re not sure what that might be…? Or that life is passing by at such a pace, that you can’t grab hold of anything solid? Do you know that you want to feel, and find, clarity and passion about your work, or about your direction and what’s next for you – but you just can’t quite find that on your own…?

My clients, and others, share these musings with me all of the time, in the meditation classes that I teach and the career coaching that I do. To address these quandaries and desires, I have developed this new class: How to Live and Work with Clarity, Passion, and Take Wise Action.

Four (4) weeks, Sundays, 3:00 PM-5:00 PM. This new class is for those who would like to incorporate meditation into their lives (whether you already have a meditation practice, or not), and who want support in investigating their passions – to increase life and career satisfaction. This is not a resume writing class (although I can help you with that, if you need it), but rather a way to genuinely connect with yourself so that you know the Wise Actions to take, to live and work in the way you most desire.

What You Will Learn in this New Class:

 Meditation techniques and tools to use every day, in every situation.

 More about your personal style at work and elsewhere, and more about your personal and professional strengths, and how to use these to make your life happier. We’ll use the MBTI and the Strengths Finder 2.0 to learn more about you!

 How to investigate what your passions are and how to connect with them in a genuine way so that you stay connected with them on a daily basis.

 How to communicate with authenticity and wisdom, with people at home and at work; how to clarify your point of view and strengthen bonds.

 What you really want from your life, and how to live this every day.

Class includes the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, a copy of my book “Making Work Work: Secrets from a Career Coach’s Office”, additional in-class assessments and activities, audios, and handouts each week.

Dates / Time: Sundays, Sep 18 – Oct 16, 3:00 – 5:00 PM;
Location: Playa Vista (exact address tbd)

Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Class

desert CAMPING

Happy holidays! In the season of gifting, consider giving yourself the tool of self-understanding for career success.

I’m happy to announce that, after a successful offering of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator workshop last month, our South Bay clients asked us at Daisy Swan and Associates to offer this class again in the South Bay area. The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) workshop in El Segundo. The MBTI is the most widely used research-based instrument of its kind, and is valuable for career success, study strategy, interpersonal relationships, networking, interviewing and gaining insight into your unique style of ‘doing’ life.

In the two-hour workshop with my associate Brooke Loesby, you will receive your MBTI Career Report and learn many of the nuances of your MBTI type. The report highlights career paths that may work best for your type, utilizing your natural proclivities. It will also shed light on the working environments and conditions that allow you to thrive. We will discuss how your type affects the job search, and develop a job search strategy that makes the most of your unique characteristics. You will also learn how to use the MBTI to best prepare for interviews so that you can successfully articulate your experiences and strengths. Learning in a group environment ensures that you will learn about a variety of MBTI types and styles, allowing you to glean more about how others think, behave and work…valuable information to know when we increasingly work in group settings.

This class is offered Monday, January 11th from 7-9pm at Biz Haus in El Segundo.

Registration: $72

Register here:

You will receive a link to take the MBTI in advance of the class, and the report will be given to you at the class along with other valuable resources.

What People Are Saying About Daisy Swan’s Job Search Classes:

“After graduating from college and being out of school for over a year with no full time job yet, I decided to sign up for Daisy’s 4-week Job Search Class. I took the class because I was frustrated and confused about how to navigate through the current job market and I left the class feeling confident, qualified and ready to get a job. The class was small and intimate which provided for a more personal and hands-on experience. Daisy was an amazing teacher who provided us with the tools and guidance necessary to find a job. Not only did we get a handful of templates and resources on how to write a better resume and cover letter, but we also learned valuable networking skills. Daisy is extremely knowledgeable, encouraging and beams with positive energy which made her an awesome mentor and teacher. I am so happy that I took her class and I am even happier to report that I am writing this from the desk at my new job.”

But it doesn’t have to be that way!

Join Daisy Swan, career coach and mindfulness instructor, for this day of exploration and discovery to help you to step into a new and kinder way of being in transition, to invite more ease, to move to the next chapter of your life. Using a variety of exercises, vision boards, mindfulness meditation and discussion, participants will have tools to use again and again – beyond this helpful and informative day. In Transition: Choosing a Happier Way to What’s Next

PLEASE NOTE: This event has already occurred.

It’s clear that most of us are experiencing more uncertainty in our lives than ever before. Shifts in our employment, LifeStage, or values – it’s easy to be overwhelmed by all of the change. Transitions of all kinds take courage, new dreams, visions and encouragement. I understand the fear and anxiety that surfaces, but I also know there’s a different approach we can take.

Join me to explore a new way of working with change, uncertainty, new choices and opportunities. Approaching transition with an eye for developing resilience and self-compassion, can turn this time into one of happiness and ease.

Learn useful techniques to explore options for new careers, jobs, lifestyles, and ways of relating to your life. We’ll utilize assessments that help each person understand their strengths, motivations and personality, to help in finding the clearest steps to their new path. Mindfulness meditation will be introduced, which provides a calming foundation practice to increase happiness, intuition and creativity, while minimizing stress and anxiety.

So join me, Daisy Swan, for this on-line class that will “meet” six (6) times, for 75 minutes each session. I’ll provide tools, exercises, instruction and resources to encourage creative thinking and new insights.

Each member of the group will be held accountable for ‘doing the work’ they choose to help them move along their “What’s Next” path. Group members will also receive 30 minutes of one-on-one phone or Skype coaching time with me. Men and women of all ages are invited.

Tuesdays, 12:00 PM – 1:15 PM (Pacific); January 21 & 28, 2014, and then February 4, 11, 18, and 25. Meetings will take place via teleconference; call-in details will be circulated to paid registrants prior to the first class.

$240.00 (can be paid in two installments): Includes all 6 sessions; a copy of Daisy’s e-book ‘Making Work Work: Secrets from a Career Coach’s Office’, as well as other valuable handouts and 30 minutes of individual coaching with Daisy via phone/Skype. Also includes access to recorded versions of each class.

‘Transitioning’ Class ($240.00 for all 6 meetings):

What People Are Saying about Daisy Swan’s “Transitioning” Teleclass:

“I loved the fact that each class started with meditation and that reinforced my practice. The technique used is quite simple and easy to love even for people that never meditate. (Vipassana)

I love the small group formula as listening to other life experiences and insights helped me to step out of my own questions. Career change brings some similar emotions amongst people although in different contexts. It was truly a joy to listen and be listened to. It also kept me on my toes. I had to do my homework if I wanted to share something with the group. Yes, there is homework and if you do it, boy, you get the job done, aka targeting what’s going on and what you want to do next.

Daisy brought us various tools that address the emotional issue of career change as well as very practical tools, such as resume building, interview preparation and various tips to help transition into this new career.

Bottom line: The reason why I took the class was because I wanted to clarify what my ‘next career move’ would be. Did the seminar help? Hell yeah! I know where I want to head. Not bad for a mere once-a-week meeting, for only six weeks. What a gift! Thank you for this!”

~ G.G., September/October 2013 “In Transition: Choosing a Happier Way to What’s Next” Coaching Class Participant

“I took a ‘transitions’ workshop with Daisy in the Fall of 2013. We covered a lot of helpful territory such as resumes, informational interviews, self-assessment and imagination exercises. We also explored ways to tap into personal, internal resources and energy, which was equally if not more helpful than the more familiar topics. These strategies have helped me feel more personally powerful and grounded during my career change, which, in turn, provides a boost for taking all of those other external actions.”

~ K.K., September/October 2013 “In Transition: Choosing a Happier Way to What’s Next” Coaching Class Participant

Calm Communication: Skillful Strategies for Stressful Situations

PLEASE NOTE: This event has already occurred.

(an InsightLA program led by Career Coach, Daisy Swan)

Years of working with clients on clarifying their personal and professional goals, has made it clear to me that what’s really important is how we communicate with, and to, ourselves. From this foundation of self-talk we go out and talk to others – about who we are and what we’re about. So from my perspective, communication is the foundation of absolutely everything.

While a job search is comprised of a set of mechanical steps to which we need to adhere (to some extent that part is easy to learn), the trickier issue is who we are being, and how we communicate with others so that they feel heard and seen – and likewise, how easily others can see us for who we genuinely are.

Studies show that most job dissatisfaction comes from poor communication (ok, terrible communication) with a boss, and/or co-workers. Verbal and emotional recklessness are rampant in workplaces, not to mention in relationships of all kinds. It behooves us to work on these complex and key skills of speaking and listening, which have so much to do with our effectiveness and happiness at home and at work.

To this end, Daisy Swan, Career Strategist, Coach and Counselor, is once again offering her six-week class, “Calm Communication: Skillful Strategies for Stressful Situations”, at InsightLA (a mindfulness center in Santa Monica). But this time, she’s revised the curriculum. Last series, Daisy focused on the communication skills of introverts; this time, she’s widening the scope to include extroverts. Why? Because we all need some help developing our ability to be present, to really hear one another. And to speak in ways that help others to hear us.

Using the foundational practice of mindfulness meditation, Daisy will share a variety of tools, exercises and practices to increase presence, to really be with another. Interviewing, leading, running your own shop, staying connected with kids…it all comes down to being present and to communicating, to get the results you really want.

Reading list and materials will be provided.

Dates: Wednesdays; September 18 & 25; October 2, 16, 23 and 30 (no class October 9)

Time: 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM

Location: InsightLA 14th Street* (1826 14th St., Santa Monica, CA 90404)

* Please Note: This class will move to InsightLA Olympic, 1030 Olympic Blvd., for the final three classes on 10/16, 10/23 & 10/30.

Registration: $200.00 (for all six meetings)

In this six (6) week class you will learn and grow. You will stretch yourself in a safe environment and be heard in social situations that feel challenging, but as you will see, this can change. Mindfulness exercises as well as conversational simulations will be practiced.

Is Your Nest Changing?

Join us for this Program to Empower and Nourish Your Body, Mind and Spirit for The Next Stage in Your Life

With Nutritionist Linda Prout, MS and Career Coach Daisy Swan, MA, CPCC

The approach of the empty nest brings up emotions for most parents; from anxiety to excitement to fear and even denial. Your life changes as your teen makes his or her transition to the next phase. The house gets quieter. And where does that leave you, the Mom?

All of this is often compounded by a woman’s changing body physiology, sometimes heightening emotions and prompting questions of personal purpose, and interests. ‘What does life have in store for me, now?’

Linda Prout, Nutritionist, and Daisy Swan, Career Coach, have helped thousands of people make positive changes in their lives and have now teamed up to offer a holistic approach to help Moms get empowered, centered and clear about the next chapter in their lives.

This transformational program includes two 90-minute teleclasses; two 45-minute private nutrition sessions by phone with Linda; two 45-minute  private coaching sessions with Daisy; email support, readings and exercises.  All for only $469 (a $1,000 value).

Join Daisy and Linda for this empowering program that you can attend from your own home. (Limited to 10 women.)

Stepping into the Empty Nest is not just in our mind and spirit, it is in our physiology.

You Will Learn:

* The Eastern medicine concepts of stagnation and deficiency, and the culinary wisdom needed to get unstuck, nourished and balanced.

* How the Traditional Chinese Medicine property of dampness can leave you stuck, repeating old patterns that no longer serve you or bring you joy.

* How to uncover and tune into your interests and passions so that you can get moving towards a compelling new – or renewed – work life, to increase your overall life satisfaction.

* About kid-friendly food choices that may no longer be nourishing you nor helping your hormones. What are the foods that can keep you balanced, focused and energized?

* Stress relieving techniques that enhance our inherent intuition, and increase calm and peace even as we experience the transition we’ve been expecting, but which somehow takes us by surprise, too.

* How weight gain keeps us stuck in life patterns and how to use foods to release excess weight and allow change.

* Identify what you want to do with the next ‘half’ of your life and then take the practical steps to make this a reality, whether you need a resume tune-up or total revamp, additional education,  or even relocation!

You’ll receive the guidance and support to investigate, and then begin to take, these essential steps with fresh confidence and courage.

Teleclass Dates: Fall 2013 dates TBA. Please email [email protected], to be added to our event updates and announcements listing.

Time: 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM (Pacific)

A NEW Workshop! “Listening for Your Calling”

PLEASE NOTE: This event has already occurred.

There seems to come a time when many of us stop, take a look around, and realize that we don’t really know what we’re looking forbut we know that something needs to change. I looked for that “something” throughout my twenties, made some big decisions, and remarkably found “it” as I embarked on what turned out to be my calling. Many, many of the clients with whom I work are looking for their calling…that work that provides them with a life, more than just “making them a living”.

Call it finding your passion, your bliss, yourcalling. Call it what you will, it can be tricky to know what it is that really sparks you and beckons you to follow, especially when life is so demanding and distracting. But when you find “it”, you’ll have a long and fulfilling path to follow.

I’ve been considering the antidote to this scramble to find the thing that makes our heart(s) sing. So on Thursday, October 18, I will start a new workshop called “Listening for Your Calling”. This six-week class will provide the following:

  • Techniques to unearth interests and passions that have been buried by experience and doubt
  • Tools to dismantle mental barriers, to move towards what you really want
  • Strategies for exploring and identifying your innate strengths, and managing weaknesses
  • Avenues to quiet internal chatter and external noise that keeps us from hearing what’s most important
  • Assessments that provide helpful and practical information
  • A FREE copy of my e-book, “Making Work Work: Secrets from a Career Coach’s Office

I put so much of my energy into answering this question of how to discover our calling. The honor and challenge of being a guide to others on this journey, is my calling.

I hope you’ll join me and the others in this class, to make the most of what you’ve got to offer. I’ll be sharing with you the things [often very personal] I did to recognize my own path. And you’ll have the opportunity to hear how others are similarly moving forward to find what works for them.
